Alumna Named Among Most Influential Women in Corporate America by Savoy Magazine

Aiken, SC (07/24/2019) — The current edition of Savoy, which features Oprah Winfrey on the cover, includes University of South Carolina Aiken alumna, Kelly Cornish, as one of the most influential "African American Women achievers impacting corporate America," according to a story on PR Newswire's website.

"This journey started 30 years ago after graduating from the University of South Carolina Aiken," Cornish wrote on Facebook after the summer edition of the magazine was released.

Savoy's selects those who "embody talent, leadership and grace while executing critical roles for some of the largest corporations in the world," as reported in the story.

Cornish, USC Aiken Class of '89, currently serves as TD Bank's Senior Vice President, Head of U.S. Diversity and Inclusion. She co-authored It's Work! How Will You Show Up? with Myron Rolle. In it, she offers professional and personal tips to help ensure success in the workplace.

The Pacer alumna was the guest speaker during the December 2017 graduation ceremony.

"Run your race with purpose and tenacity," Cornish told the graduate and undergraduate degree candidates at the time.

"From this moment on, pursue your passion, be resilient, and strive for meaning in all that you do."

Suggestions she shared with the graduating Pacers, included: always believe that every difficulty comes with a lot of opportunities; tap into your own passion; never think that you have no other choice; and find others who share your passion.

In addition to naming Cornish among the list of influential women, Savoy's summer edition includes stories about Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Tyra Banks, Regina King, Valerie Jarrett, and Serena Williams.
