Former Pacer Signs Professional Volleyball Contract

Aiken, SC (02/17/2019) — Former University of South Carolina Aiken All-America volleyball standout Ashley Diedrich recently signed a professional contract with Volsungur Volleyball Club in Husavik, Iceland.

"We are truly excited for Ashley Diedrich," head coach Glenn Cox said. "She has a chance to continue playing a sport she loves - and thrived in while at USC Aiken.

Diedrich, a native of Orlando, Fla., earned third-team All-America accolades as a senior in 2015 after picking up honorable mention honors as a junior. She was a two-time NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the Year.As a senior, she was a first-team all-region honoree. Diedrich guided the Pacers to a 27-6 overall record, including a 14-4 mark in the Peach Belt Conference. She helped lead the team to the program's first PBC regular-season title since 2007, guided the squad to the PBC Championship match for the second time in three seasons en route to being named to the all-tournament team and helped the team to its first-ever No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Southeast Region.

She led the squad to its second straight NCAA Tournament berth.Diedrich led the PBC in kills per set (3.79) and points per set (4.4). She was second in the PBC in kills (421) and points (493). Diedrich finished among the league leaders in service aces per set (14th), hitting percentage (14th), block assists (15th) and total blocks (17th).In the win over Belmont Abbey, Diedrich reached the 1,000-kill plateau for her career and is fourth on the USC Aiken career kills list with 1,336. She finished with 34 career double-doubles, which is fifth on the career list since the 2001 season. Diedrich also concluded her career with the seventh-most block assists in school history (236) and the ninth-most aces (136).During her career, Diedrich was named the PBC Freshman of the Year before garnering PBC Player of the Year honors her last two seasons. She guided the Pacers to an 85-41 mark during her career.
