USC Aiken Hosts Family Day, Other Activities this Weekend

Run for the Roses

Friday, Sept. 20

5 p.m.

Newberry Street

USC Aiken's Alpha Omicron Pi's Aiken Oktoberfest Run for the Roses 5K takes place in downtown Aiken. The event is one of the sorority's signature philanthropic efforts. All proceeds benefit the Children's Hospital of Georgia and the Arthritis Foundation.

USC Aiken Family Day

Saturday, Sept. 21

Begins at 10 a.m., activities take place all day

Various locations on the USC Aiken Campus

Pacer families are invited to spend the day with their students, engaging in fun and dynamic events organized by the USC Aiken Division of Student Affairs.

Activities begin with brunch at 10 a.m., in the Quad, near the fountain in the center of campus. Other Family Day events will take place throughout the day, all over campus.

USC Aiken Open House

Various locations on the USC Aiken Campus

The USC Aiken Office of Admissions invites prospective students and their families to explore the campus, including programs offered and student leadership and engagement opportunities. The USC Aiken Open House program features a full day of activities, including an info fair with a variety of campus departments and programs, a tour of campus and freshman apartments, a financial aid discussion, and complimentary lunch in the campus dining hall.

Aiken Scholars Academy Day of Caring

Saturday, Sept. 21

9 a.m. - noon

Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and various locations on the USC Aiken Campus

Students from the Aiken Scholars Academy, located on the USC Aiken campus, will spend the morning sprucing up the grounds around the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center, where the Aiken County Public School District's high school for gifted and talented students is located. In addition, ASA students will do a campus-wide clean-up.

Mead Hall Panther Invitational

Saturday, Sept. 21

3 p.m.

USC Aiken Natatorium

Mead Hall Episcopal School will hold its second Panther Invitational in the USC Aiken Natatorium. Swimmers from area public and private middle and high schools from both South Carolina and Georgia will participate in the event.

Oktoberfest

Saturday, Sept. 21

6 - 10 p.m.

Downtown Aiken

USC Aiken is one of the sponsors of this festive annual fall event. This year marks the 7th annual Oktoberfest, featuring German food, beverages and music, specifically the Foothills Oompah Band. Attendees are encouraged to bring their entire family - including pets - and to wear their most festive German attire. Football games will be broadcast on the big screen, so guests won't miss any of the seasonal sports action.
