USC Aiken Students Graduate Dec. 12
Aiken, SC (12/11/2019) — The University of South Carolina AIken invites media representatives cover the following activities on Thursday, Dec. 12:
- The University of South Carolina Aiken School of Nursing will recognize its graduates during a pinning ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 9 a.m., in the Etherredge Center.
- The University of South Carolina Aiken will hold its December graduation ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m., in the USC Aiken Convocation Center.
The speaker for the ceremony is Amanda F. Whittle, Class of '92. Whittle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of South Carolina Aiken and earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
She currently serves as South Carolina's State Child Advocate and director of the South Carolina Department of Children's Advocacy. Whittle was appointed to these positions earlier this year by Governor Henry D. McMaster. Before taking on these responsibilities, she worked as an assistant general counsel for the state's Department of Social Services. Whittle was also a family court practitioner with Johnson, Johnson, Whittle & Snelgrove, Attorneys, P.A.
She is admitted to the South Carolina Bar and United States District Court. She is certified as a child welfare law specialist through the National Association of Counsel for Children.
