Outdoor Big Band Concert to be Performed Under the Stars
Aiken, SC (09/29/2020) — The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra returns to Aiken to kick of the Etherredge Center's 2020-2021 Cultural Series Season with an enchanting outdoor concert on Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m., in Parking Lot D on the University of South Carolina Aiken campus.
Tickets are $75 per car and allow for up to six people in each vehicle. For tickets, call 803-641-3305 or go to usca.edu/etherredge-center.
"This is one of the hottest big bands around," said Paul Crook, executive director of the Etherredge Center.
Fashioned in the style and swagger of legendary entertainers like Frank Sinatra, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra is putting their own stamp on the Great American songbook, graced with a touch of Motown, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley.
"They promise patrons an exciting and unique outdoor concert experience," Crook said.
Louisiana native and band leader, Jeremy Davis, led various bands during more than 200 shows a year on the road before forming the Equinox Orchestra. His groups have been featured at festivals, theaters and in venues all across North America.
Lead singer Clay Johnson, known as "Mr. Showtime," has a love of gospel music that has taken him all around the United States and the world. Since childhood, he's performed in thousands of performances.
From their home base in Savannah, Ga., The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra has toured the world for the last decade, performing in various arenas. In Aiken, their show will be performed "drive-in style," in Parking Lot D, with cars parked in every other spot. The empty space next to each car can be used to set out folding chairs to "tailgate," or as an impromptu dance floor.
"This band will definitely make you want to get up and move," said Crook.
