Pacers Win First Dressage Show

Aiken, SC (10/11/2019) — Members of the newly formed dressage team at the University of South Carolina Aiken competed in their first Intercollegiate Dressage Association event at Wake Forest University recently and came home as best in show.

"We were all shocked when our team won," said Marissa Collins, advisor for the dressage team.

"It was a huge accomplishment to win our first show. We are looking forward to the next one."

The Pacers partnered with fellow riders from Averett University in Danville, Va., to comprise a team. The foursome took on several others teams from regional institutions who also competed in the event at Hidden K Stables, the home stable for Wake Forest. In addition to USC Aiken, other schools who took part in the dressage show included North Carolina State and St. Andrews in Laurinburg, NC.

"This was our first show, and we really didn't know what to expect going in," Collins said.

"Many of the other coaches were very helpful in finding our way and helping us with the schedule and rules."

Out of all the riders taking part in the Wake event, Wymbs earned the reserve high score of the day.
