Provost Kicks off Semester with Video Message

Aiken, SC (08/20/2020) — On the eve of classes starting at the University of South Carolina Aiken, Dr. Daren Timmons, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, sent students a video message.

"What an adventure you are about to embark on here at UofSC Aiken," he said in an email to the student body.

"We are so excited to begin this journey with you."

Normally, the day before classes start, the university holds freshmen convocation, the students' first official academic ceremony at the institution. During the annual event, faculty wear their academic regalia, and incoming students receive a charge from a visiting speaker.

"While we are not able to gather in large groups at this time, I did want to let you know a little of my heart and my dreams for you," Timmons said in his email.
