Richmond County School Director Receives USC Aiken Award

Aiken, SC (02/18/2019) — The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center announced the recipient of its Dr. Robert E. Alexander Administrator of the Year Award.

Dr. Shelly Allen, director of curriculum and instruction for Richmond County Schools, earned the annual award.

"This prestigious award recognizes administrators in the CSRA for their efforts and support of bringing full awareness to [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] education to help meet science and math standards," Senn said.

Recipients of the Dr. Robert E. Alexander Administrator of the Year Award encourage teachers and provide opportunities for them to help develop skills needed for science and math instruction.

"They also strive to empower teachers to present engaging STEM education experiences for students," Senn said.

The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center solicits nominations for the awards in the spring of each year.
