Students Can Explore Summer Skies with Special Programs

Aiken, SC (06/06/2019) — The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center is offering special showtimes on select Friday mornings while area students are on break from school.

Through the inaugural Summer Skies program, families can explore astronomy and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first landing on the moon.

"The Summer Skies series is designed for children and adults," said John Hutchens, director of special programs at USC Aiken's Ruth Patrick Science Education Center.

"This special program is also good for Scout troops, 4-H clubs and other groups that involve children and parents learning together."

Ruth Patrick Science Education Center will present Summer Skies shows at 10 a.m., and 11 a.m., Fridays, on June 7, 14, 28; July 12, 19, 26; and August 2. Each child must be accompanied by his or her parent or guardian, unless her or she is part of a chaperoned group visit. Groups will need to call ahead to check availability.
