UofSC Aiken Celebrates Fall Graduation

Aiken, SC (11/21/2020) — The University of South Carolina Aiken celebrated its newest alumni during its fall convocation ceremony on Nov. 20.

"Do you realize that of the 7 billion people in the world, only 6% have completed a college degree? You did not just complete a college degree, you did so in the middle of a global pandemic," said Dr. Sandra Jordan, chancellor.

The ceremony was held at Aiken High School's football stadium, which allowed graduates and their family and friends to maintain social distance. Although attendance was limited to two guests per graduate, the event was live-streamed for those watching at home.

Jason Holt, Aiken High School principal, and class of 2005 graduate of UofSC Aiken, was the commencement speaker.

"Pursue that meaningful work no matter what you are doing, have that spirit that this university is built upon and was modeled for you throughout, have both a moral compass and GPS, drive yourself into the future with an understanding that life is what you make and finding meaning in that pursuit will never be wrong."
