UofSC Aiken Receives Million Dollar Donation

Aiken, SC (12/22/2020) — The University of South Carolina Aiken School of Nursing recently received a gift of 1 million dollars from the estate of Anna M. Gascoigne-Nixon.

Gascoigne-Nixon, earned a nursing degree at St. Luke's hospital in Cleveland, Ohio where she worked in several hospitals and schools.

After retiring, Gascoigne-Nixon, an accomplished equestrian, moved to Aiken with her second husband, James Nixon, to enjoy Aiken's equine community.

During her declining years Gascoigne-Nixon was moved to endow the Anna M. Gascoigne Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund in honor of the home health aide who wanted to become a nurse and provided her with exceptional care.

Mary Driscoll, vice chancellor for advancement and external affairs says UofSC Aiken is "honored and deeply grateful for this magnificent bequest."
