USC Aiken Alumni Association Awards Scholarships

Aiken, SC (06/11/2018) — The University of South Carolina Aiken Alumni Association awarded 14 scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year to students majoring in numerous disciplines.

This year, eight students received the Alumni Student Involvement Scholarship, and six others received the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.

"It is important for the alumni association to raise funds throughout the year so we can reward student leaders on campus and celebrate generations of USC Aiken students through the legacy scholarships," said Kristen Medlin, Class of '03 and president of the USC Aiken Alumni Association.

Throughout the year, the alumni board sponsors several events - including a golf tournament and a silent auction - to raise money for the scholarships.

"The alumni board participates in fundraising activities in an effort to give back to the university that helped us achieve so much in our lives," said Blake Leaphart, Class of '11, chair of the alumni scholarship committee.

"We remember what it was like to receive scholarships as students, and we want to recreate or pass on that feeling to current deserving students."
