USC Aiken Equestrians Qualify for 7-State Competition

Aiken, SC (03/14/2019) — Members of the University of South Carolina Aiken's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Hunt Seat Team earned enough points during a regional competition to advance to the IHSA Zone 5 show at Auburn University on March 30.

The achievement sets a record for USC Aiken.

Based on their scores at the regional contest held at Lander University, three Pacers earned enough points to move on to the next level. The show at Auburn will include riders from seven states.

"These girls have been practicing extremely hard this season and rode beautifully during their regional finals competition," said Megan Martin, USC Aiken's Hunt Seat Team coach.

"Their work ethic and team dedication have carried them far this year, and I'm optimistic that it will help them reach their goal of qualifying for the national finals in Syracuse, N.Y.

Brooklin Kuipers qualified in the open flat category. Cheyanne Gray moves on in the novice fences category, and Alexis Rohrer will advance in the novice flat category.

"I'm very proud of how well the girls have done this season, both as individual riders and as a team, and am excited to see what the future has in store," Martin said.
