USC Aiken Psychology Clinic Offers Parenting Class

Aiken, SC (02/22/2022) — The University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) Psychology Clinic will be offering a 9-week parenting class for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents.

The class is meant to help parents struggling to manage their children's challenging behaviors, such as not listening, throwing tantrums, fighting with siblings, and more. Parents will learn effective behavior management strategies based on positive parenting principles. In addition, parents will learn how to understand and connect with their child, including learning about child development and responding to emotions in a supportive way.

Parenting can be difficult, especially when dealing with other stressors such as work and family issues. This class will give parents a space to talk about the common challenges and stresses of parenting and learn skills to attend to their own well-being.

The class is led by a clinical child psychologist, Dr. Bridget Cho, and graduate students in the USC Aiken Applied Clinical Psychology Program. The 9-week course costs $30 and will be held in Room 201 of the Penland Administration Building on the university campus. The class will meet once per week from March 31 - May 26 on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Class size is limited. Call (803) 641-2847 by March 17 to register.
