Engaging Seminar Helps Future Professionals Face the Future
Aiken, SC (02/24/2020) — The University of South Carolina Aiken School of Business Administration recently held its second Aiken Business Leadership Symposium.
The day-long event brought students and business leaders together for a series of engaging seminars and workshops. Topics included free enterprise education, healthcare, law, finance, philanthropy, diversity, retail, networking, entrepreneurship, and leadership development.
"We were pleased to offer this opportunity to our students, the Aiken business community, USC Aiken alumni, and other attendees from the region" said Dr. Sanela Porca, the ABLS organizer and program chair.
"We had leaders from a variety of industries sharing their insights and lessons learned with our students in a dynamic way."
Porca explains that the symposium is designed so that students, businesses, and interested community members gain new insights into the world of business and the role of leadership.
"The strategic operating principle of the School of Business is Educating through Engagement," she said.
"A major emphasis of the program is student career readiness, accompanied by employer networking and recruiting opportunities."
The theme of the 2020 event was Facing the Future Together.
This year, symposium organizers thought it appropriate to have students engage with professionals from near and far who have made a positive impact on business, education, and in their communities. Throughout the symposium, students and attendees from the community engaged with business leaders, explored, business leader insights, expanded students' knowledge of the latest business ideas and trends, energized their thoughts about business, and helped establish their career pathways.
"We want to be the Southeast's premier university-based business leadership event, drawing students, business professionals, and community leaders from around the region to engage with experts from around the world," Porca said.
To that end, she's already started planning the 2021 Aiken Business Leadership Symposium, slated for Feb. 11 next year.
Porca says the USC Aiken School Business is grateful for the donors who helped make the 2020 event possible, including: E. Preston and Jerry Ann Rahe, Dr. Liz Stewart, Dr. Mick and Jacqueline Fekula, Daniel J. Zaloudek, and Roy Lindburg. The sponsor for the symposium was Academic Partnerships.
"The [School of Business] further recognizes [Academic Partners] Managing Director Susan Nittmann for her persistent professional performance that has led to the success of our online MBA program," Porca said.
