Exercise and Sports Science receives National Recognition

Aiken, SC (12/18/2020) — The University of South Carolina Aiken's Exercise and Sports Science program has been recognized by the National Strength and Condition Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program (ERP) as an approved program.

The approval comes with several exclusive benefits offered by NACA which include certification, professional development, and networking.

"The NSCA approval is a valuable tool for student recruitment, student education, student discounts for certification examinations, student scholarship opportunities, and for interview and career networking coordinated through the NSCA," says Chris DeWitt, professor and department chair of exercise and sports science.

Students studying exercise science and sports science at UofSC Aiken have concentration options in fitness management, basic sciences, and allied health. In addition to classroom instruction, the student is provided with learning opportunities in the Exercise Physiology Laboratory, the UofSC Aiken Wellness Center, Athletics, and off-campus sites. Approximately 257 students are currently pursuing the exercise and sports science major at UofSC Aiken.
