Haley Dixon Honored as USC Aiken's Outstanding Student

Aiken, SC (12/13/2019) — During its December graduation ceremony, the University of South Carolina Aiken recognized Haley Dixon as its Outstanding Senior Student.

"Throughout her academic career, Miss Dixon's scholarly performance has been impeccable," said Blake Leaphart, president of the USC Aiken Alumni Association who introduced the award.

Dixon, a double-major in communication and fine arts, has a minor in anthropology and human geography.

Professors say she personifies academic distinction who often makes an impact on other students. Her critical thinking skills, active participation, and insightful questions, have been credited with increasing the knowledge and understanding of her classmates.

Dixon has taken advantage of several experiential learning opportunities while at USC Aiken, including: studying abroad in Valencia, Spain and interning with both WJBF News Channel 6 in Augusta and the USC Aiken Sports Information Office. During her time on campus, she served on the staff of Broken Ink, USC Aiken's award-winning, student-led visual and literary arts magazine for four years. While at Broken Ink, she also served a stint as editor in chief. This active Pacer also participated in the University Theatre Players and a variety of other student organizations.
