Jordan Honored with Two Cyber Awards from the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce

Aiken, SC (06/14/2021) — The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the United States Chamber and Cyber South Carolina are hosted a Cyber Summit on May 25, 2021. Four awards were presented by the S.C. Chamber prior to this summit, and Dr. Sandra Jordan and the University of South Carolina Aiken received two of the four awards.

The Cyber Leadership Award was presented to Jordan and the Cyber Academia Award was presented to her on behalf of UofSC Aiken. Other recipients at the summit included PC Mati, which took the Industry Award and South Carolina Election was recognized with the Government Award.

Jordan stated, "The award I accepted on behalf of UofSC Aiken is based upon the creative work we've done to create an education continuum with programs and workshops at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center for K-12 Cyber Patriots, a partnership with the Aiken County School System to provide exposure to the cyber security at the Scholars Academy, the AMC and National Guard DreamPort collaboration that also has educational components, and UofSC Aiken's unique cybersecurity degree that includes SANS certification. Taken all together and including Aiken Technical College's cyber programs, these partnerships provide an ongoing cyber security educational infrastructure that will build a pipeline of cyber professionals that is unique in the state and region."

Jordan attended the summit to personally accept the Cyber Excellence Leadership Award.

"I'm deeply honored to be the recipient of the MG Lester D. Eisner Award for Cyber Excellence Leadership. The work we've been doing to create a new cyber eco-system has given me a chance to work at something that will generate opportunity for the university, our region and our business, government, educational, and industry partners," Jordan said.

"While I'm delighted to receive this award from Cyber SC and the SC Chamber of Commerce, I know that the "leadership" being recognized actually represents the efforts of many individuals who understand that collaboration and partnerships are the only way to really create lasting value in the realm of cyber security."
