Pacer Basketball Player Chosen as Rotary's Student of the Month

Aiken, SC (02/26/2020) — Aiken Sunrise Rotary selected Ryan Missildine as its Student of the Month for February.

The Sumter native is majoring is sociology with a concentration in criminal justice and a minor in communication. The junior says he may pursue a master's after graduation.

"I am still deciding, but I would like to do something in the criminal justice field," said Missildine who plays on the USC Aiken Men's Basketball Team.

"My goal is to either work for the FBI or join the Air Force to become a pilot or work for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations."

While his basketball schedule keeps him pretty busy, Missildine is active all over campus. Currently, he serves as a resident mentor in the USC Aiken housing complex.

"In this job, I look over 24 students and maintain a positive and communal living environment."

He also serves in the community by volunteering at a local school where he mentors at-risk students.

His hard work in the classroom and on the basketball court have paid off as Missildine has received numerous accolades. He's been named to the Dean's and President's lists several times for his academic standing. In addition, Missildine earned Gold and Silver awards by the Peach Belt Conference for his academic achievements.

Off campus, the basketball player enjoys sports and watching shows and movies that depict historical events during war times.
