Pacer Center in Business Research and Excellence

Aiken, SC (03/24/2022) — The School of Business Administration (SOBA) at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting for its new Pacer Center in Business Research and Excellence (Pacer Center) on Friday, March 18 on the university campus. Dr. Sanela Porca, interim dean of SOBA, has been named the center's executive director.

The center's mission is to engage, educate, and positively impact idea development across various business and non-business disciplines while sharing expertise and knowledge with the community and providing a unique opportunity to USC Aiken students to engage in cutting-edge research, consulting, and service.

Guest speakers included Dr. Daren Timmons, provost, USC Aiken; Tom Young, senator, Aiken District 24; Dan Zaloudek, executive in residence, SOBA; Rick Osbon, mayor, City of Aiken; David Jameson, president and CEO, Aiken Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Daniel Heimmermann, chancellor, USC Aiken.

On behalf of the SOBA faculty and staff, Dr. Porca dedicated the center to Dr. Heimmermann. According to Dr. Porca, the chancellor valued the initiative of the business faculty for the creation of the Pacer Center and saw their vision for the center and the positive impact it would have on the university, USC Aiken, and the state of South Carolina early on.

The center's current home is in the Business and Education building, room 112, located on the university's campus. Per Dr. Heimmermann's recommendation, the center will be relocating to the Alley in downtown Aiken.
