School of Education Recognizes Graduates
Aiken, SC (05/12/2021) — The University of South Carolina Aiken School of Education celebrated its spring 2021 graduates during its traditional pinning ceremony, just hours before graduation.
Each graduate received a pin containing symbols linked directly to the School of Education that represent their connection as educators. Olive branches, displayed on the pin, symbolize peace and acknowledge the Greek philosophers who laid the foundation for today's educational system. The blue ribbon represents the field of education as well as the university. A silver pin was presented to students who earned a Bachelor's degree in education, while a gold pin was presented to graduate students.
Dr. Sal Minolfo, Aiken County Public School District director of administration was the keynote speaker.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to teacher candidates who demonstrated exceptional practice and exemplary professionalism during student teaching. The Outstanding Intern award was presented to early childhood education major, Janae Green. Tabatha Younts, who teaches 3rd grade at Belvedere Elementary, received The Outstanding Cooperating Teacher award. Finally, The Outstanding University Supervisor was presented to Dr. Melissa Martin, Special Education.
