UofSC Aiken Ranked a Top Public Regional College in the South
Aiken, SC (09/13/2021) — The University of South Carolina Aiken (UofSC Aiken) is the No. 3 Public Regional College in the South, according to U.S. News and World Report's annual undergraduate rankings released Monday (Sept. 13). This is the 24th consecutive time UofSC Aiken has ranked in the top three.
"These rankings once again testify to the outstanding education offered at UofSC Aiken made possible by the dedicated commitment of our talented faculty and staff," said Dr. Dan Heimmermann, chancellor.
The university also ranked No. 2 in the Best Colleges for Veterans category.
"I am honored to see UofSC Aiken recognized in this manner," said Robert Murphy, director of the Center for Student Achievement and Veteran and Military Student Success. The Office of Veteran and Military Student Success team, comprised of veteran and military-connected personnel, comes to work each day to best position veteran and military students to achieve their educational, career, and life goals. We have a wonderful campus community and a dedicated team of professionals who understand veteran and military students in higher education."
UofSC Aiken also earned rankings in six additional categories:

- Top Performers on Social Mobility
- Top Public Schools
- Business Programs,
- Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs
- Nursing
According to the report: "U.S. News measured academic quality using 17 metrics, with the most weight placed on outcomes, including not only the ability of a college to retain and graduate its students from different socioeconomic backgrounds but also their graduates' average indebtedness. Class size, undergraduate academic reputation, and how much colleges invest in instruction and student services are among the other data points U.S. News collected to develop the latest set of rankings."
