USC Aiken Lauds Class of 2019

Aiken, SC (12/13/2019) — The University of South Carolina Aiken celebrated its newest alumni during its December convocation ceremony on Dec. 12.

"Commencements and convocations are ceremonies that mark a new beginning and are celebrations of hope and joy, much like the holiday season that is now upon us," said Dr. Sandra Jordan, chancellor.

"The Class of 2019 represents our hope for the future of our community, our nation and our world."

Right after graduation, many of the grads plan to start the professional careers they've dreamed about and worked for; others will enter graduate programs or professional schools to further their education before entering their professions. Some may take a break from school or will volunteer to serve globally through the Peace Corps or other service entities.

"No matter their individualized paths, we are deeply proud of their current and their future accomplishments," Jordan said.

Family, friends and fellow Pacers joined the chancellor and students in the celebration.

"I look forward to having you join us as part of the alumni family tonight," Blake Leaphart, president of the USC Aiken Alumni Association, told the Class of '19 during the ceremony.

"We are all very proud of you and, like Chancellor Jordan, your fellow Pacer alumni are watching with great anticipation to see what you will do next.

"With the knowledge you've gained here, with the confidence you've built here, and with the network of friends you've made here, you're all set."
