USC Aiken Service Award Winners Announced
Aiken, SC (05/29/2020) — This year, two faculty members have earned the University of South Carolina Aiken Service Award: Dr. Sanela Porca and Professor Elizabeth Webb.
Porca teaches economics in the School of Business Administration and serves on many committees at the university and departmental levels. She increases the visibility of the institution and its students as the study abroad program director. Her involvement as chair of the Aiken Business Leadership Symposium this year brought in 250 attendees to campus, seven outside speakers and three USC Aiken alumni speakers.
Leaders of the university credit her with being instrumental in the development of data analytics and the MBA within the school of business.
"She has and continues to promote and serve the university, school of business and students," said one faculty member.
Webb, a professor in the communication department, is the advisor to UNITY, one of the student organizations on campus. In this role, she also earned the Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award.
She is a member of the Chancellor's Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion and the Inclusion Advisory Council. Webb is currently chair of the Scholastic Standing and Petitions Committee.
"She truly cares for the newcomer, the marginalized, and the potentially disenfranchised," said one colleague.
"All in all, our campus is made better by the exceptional contributions of Professor Elizabeth Webb.
