Aiken's PEO Give Scholarship to USC Aiken Nursing Student

Aiken, SC (08/05/2019) — From left, Suzan Gray, Becky Scoggin, and Dr. Elizabeth Benton of Philanthropic Educational Organization, or PEO, Chapter B, present a $3,000 scholarship check to Julia Hammond, center, a nursing student at the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Dr. Thayer McGahee, far right, dean of the USC Aiken School of Nursing, says she is grateful for the enduring support PEO has given her students, particularly the scholarships they have generously awarded.

For more than 75 years, the SC chapter of PEO has helped women pursue their educational goals by providing financial support and sisterly motivation through myriad activities and programs.

"P.E.O. exists to be a source of encouragement and support for women to realize their potential in whatever worthwhile endeavor they choose. It's women who care helping women who dare," according to the state chapter's website.
