Area Students Have Big Brothers, Sisters at USC Aiken

Aiken, SC (03/21/2018) — University of South Carolina Aiken students took a break from their own studies to help area youth with theirs.

As part of a joint effort between USC Aiken and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Pacers spent one afternoon with elementary, middle school and high school students, playing games and helping with homework.

"It is important to take time to spend with the children of Boys and Girls Club because they see you as a young leader and role model that they look up to" said Daneshka M. Padro-Perez, the USC Aiken student coordinator for the event.

"This also encourages them to push beyond their circumstances and be proactive in society. I enjoyed my time with the children by helping them with their homework and play football and basketball.

"It was a great learning experience."

The USC Aiken students plan to continue the partnership with periodic visits to the Boys and Girls Club between now and the end of the academic year.
