Blythewood Native Named Student of the Month by Sunrise Rotary
Aiken, SC (11/15/2019) — Aiken's Sunrise Rotary Club named Julia Evans, an exercise and sports science major from Blythewood, SC, Student of the Month for November.
While she plans to join the U.S. Air Force next year, the University of South Carolina Aiken junior hopes to earn her master's degree and doctorate. Ultimately, she wants to own her own physical therapy practice. But before that, she plans to take advantage of all the opportunities on campus.
"During my first tour of the university, I found that the campus environment was like that of a home," Evans said.
"With small class sizes, I've found myself to become more engaged with peers and professors."
In addition to her studies, Evans served as the president of the USC Aiken chapter of the NAACP for three years. She is involved in several student organizations and serves as the public relations chair for the university's housing complex.
"The social aspect of having so much to do on such a small but motivated campus made its appeal clear as day," Evans shared.
"Finding my own way here wasn't hard, and neither was choosing to stay at USC Aiken."
In her spare time, Evans participates in community service projects, organizes informative cultural events, hosts her own YouTube channel, writes short stories and poems, cooks for friends, acts in the theatre, and collects rocks.
