Budding Business Leaders Gather in Space Just for Entrepreneurs

Aiken, SC (03/06/2019) — University of South Carolina Aiken students gathered in the newly christened Entrepreneurship Center, located in the School of Business Administration.

The university's chapter of Enactus, a global organization meets there regularly.

"We are a global non-profit and community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives," according to the USC Aiken Enactus Facebook page.

Brent Hoover, the Sam Walton Fellow who teaches a class on entrepreneurship and serves as a consultant for the Aiken Area Small Business Development Center, is the advisor for the student organization.

The USC Aiken Entrepreneurship Center was the vision of his fellow colleagues in the School of Business Administration: Rebecca Barnwell and Mary Coule.

"The Entrepreneurship Center was created to bring forth creative ideas, encourage collaboration, and jump start businesses," Barnwell said.

"We identified a need, a need for a creative space that fosters the entrepreneurial endeavors of our students."

Their goal is to build partnerships within the community to offer workshops and resources to future entrepreneurs, especially those among the student body.

"This center allows opportunity for grow in our organization, for students who aspire to be entrepreneurs, and it will even greatly benefit the community," said Miranda Bishop, president of Enactus during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"We look forward to seeing this center's impact on young entrepreneurs and Aiken. This center, combined with dedicated, determined students, will build and establish businesses for generations to come."
