Cultural Series Kickoff with The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra
Aiken, SC (09/10/2021) — The Etherredge Center for the Fine & Performing Arts at the University of South Carolina Aiken (UofSC Aiken) kicks off their 2021-2022 Culture Series season on Saturday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. Inspired by the style and swagger of legendary entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., the band is led by Jeremy Davis on vocals and tenor-saxophone and Clay Johnson on vocals and trombone. Their high-energy performance was a fan-favorite on their last visit to the Etherredge Center.
"This cultural series season is especially important to us at the Etherredge Center as we mark the 60th anniversary of the University of South Carolina Aiken," said Paul Crook, executive director of the Etherredge Center. "We invite guests to come join us for a fabulous opening to our season and to enjoy the rich history of our amazing campus."
The next performance in the series is by "the greatest party band in America," South Carolina's very own Swingin' Medallions. They will ring in the holiday season on December 10.
On February 19, the Etherredge Center and partners at the Center for African American History, Art, and Culture (CAHAAC) will present Mike Wiley's moving one-man show, "Dar He: The Story of Emmett Till." The play chronicles the murder, trial, and confessions of the men accused of Till's murder. In celebration of Black History Month, an educational Q&A will be held at CAHAAC at 11:00 a.m. on the morning of the performance.
April closes out the season with two performances. On April 7, the American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company will perform. On April 29, Branford Marsalis makes his long-awaited appearance on the Etherredge Center stage with The Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo Duo.
Ticket prices for The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra range from $15 - $50.
Season ticket packages range from $60 - $200. Patrons will receive one show for free with each season ticket purchased. Adult tickets begin at $25 with special discounts for UofSC Aiken faculty and staff, active and retired military, senior citizens, young professionals, and children.
