Forward or Backward, It's All the Same in August
Aiken, SC (08/01/2018) — Palindrome is not a widely used word, but it is a "fun" one, according to the director of the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken.
"It is simply a sequence of characters that read the same forward and backward," explains Dr. Gary Senn.
Some simple palindrome words include Anna, Bob, level, madam and racecar.
Others are fun phrases, like: "Was it a car or a cat I saw?" and "Never odd or even."
The longest palindrome sentence is 17,826 words long and has 74,633 letters, according Senn.
August 2018 includes a number of palindrome dates, specifically:
8/1/18 - 8118
8/10/18 - 81018
8/11/18 - 81118
8/12/18 - 81218
8/13/18 - 81318
8/14/18 - 81418
8/15/18 - 81518
8/16/18 - 81618
8/17/18 - 81718
8/18/18 - 81818
8/19/18 - 81918
Senn believes the "big celebration of palindrome" is 8/10/2018 - 8102018.
"While August might be hot, you can enjoy this 'cool' phenomenon of the Palindrome Days of August," he added.
