New Patio Area Dedicated for the College of Sciences and Engineering

Aiken, SC (04/19/2022) — On Friday, April 15, Dr. Chad Leverette, dean of the College of Sciences and Engineering at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken) unveiled a new patio area and a painted horse statue adjacent to the College of Sciences and Engineering building. This patio area is intended to serve as a meeting place for USC Aiken students and was made possible by a generous donation from Dr. Liz Stewart, a longtime friend of the university.

The unveiling was well attended by faculty, staff, and friends of the university. Dr. Leverette, Dr. Stewart, and freshman industrial engineering major Alina Tomko shared remarks from the podium.

Alina Tomko is an industrial engineering major and one of the top two freshman students in the 2021/2022 freshman class. She spoke about her reasons for attending USC Aiken and becoming an engineering major.
