Outstanding Senior
Mosope Onifade has been named the graduating class of December 2021's outstanding senior at USC Aiken.
Aiken, SC (12/09/2021) — Mosope Onifade recently earned the distinction of being named the graduating class of December 2021's outstanding senior at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USCA). She is a computer science major with a concentration in cyber security and has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her undergraduate career, having earned herself a constant spot on the president's list from the Fall 2017 semester to the present.
"I am so grateful and honored to receive this distinction," Onifade said. "As a person that had a very difficult time beginning college with regard to financial issues and many other personal stressors, this experience has shown me that sometimes when you are scared to do something you could do it scared and even be outstanding."
Onifade has been the recipient of several scholarships throughout her time at USCA to include the Cecelia A. Reynolds International Scholarship, the Inclusion Advisory Council Scholarship, the Workforce Opportunities in Regional Careers (WORC) Scholarship, and the Global Leadership Award.
She has served in many roles at the university. As a student worker in the computer services department, she worked with the systems engineer in the setup and maintenance of client-based virtual machines. As a help desk technician, she performed technical support for students and faculty. Additional roles include international student intern in the Office of International Programs, summer analyst in 2020 and 2021 for the Atlanta company, Blackrock, international student mentor, Pacesetter, vice-president of Sholah, and member of Globe, the Caribbean Student Organization, and the African Student Alliance.
"Mosope has exceeded my expectations during her time with my office and has been instrumental in the implementation of new programs and initiatives at USC Aiken," said Elizabeth Dille, director of international programs. "In her role as an international student intern, she quickly took ownership of her responsibilities within the position and handled everything from program marketing and development, student advising and advocacy, and acted as a liaison for my office to the greater campus community."
