Pacers Sweep Peach Belt Esports Awards

Aiken, SC (06/16/2020) — The Peach Belt Conference announced its first Esports Awards for the 2020 League of Legends season, and University of South Carolina Aiken Pacers took two of the conference's top three honors.

The Support of the Year went to Morgan Lash, and Tyrus Carlton was named the Defender of the Year for the conference. The awards were selected by the 16 League of Legends teams.

Lash, who goes by Hi im mo, "entered the Esports scene with great skill, passion, and dedication to the success of Pacer's Esports," according to a PBC press release.

In her role as UofSC Aiken's main support, she is credited with strengthening the play of bottom lane.

"Morgan has been a wonderful addition to the League of Legends team this season. Her ability to adapt to the ever changing play style of the team has been key to the team's success this season," said Dr. David L. Morris II who serves as the team's advisor.

Carlton, also known as Saki OG, is the captain of the team and has filled also most every position this season in an attempt to strengthen the team's defenses.

"His leadership and strategy have been vital to USCA success during the 2020 season," the release said.

His stint as captain wraps up this season as Carlton finished his degree program in business.

"During his tenure as caption of the League of Legends, Tyrus has done a brilliant job of managing his fellow teammates and adapting his own game play to fill the needs of the team as a whole," Morris said.

The 2020 League of Legends season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the majority of the season was completed. The Peach Belt will return in 2021 with its fourth season of League of Legends.

"I am very proud of the League of Legends team's performance this season," said Morris.

"With the expansion of the Peach Belt Conference to include several new schools, this season presented unknown challenges for our team to overcome. In the face of adversity, the team put in the time and effort necessary to remain dominate thought the season.

"I have very high hopes for next season and our ability to remain a dominant force in the Peach Belt Conference."
