School of Education Student Selected as Rotary's Student of the Month

Aiken, SC (10/28/2020) — Aiken Sunrise Rotary Club has selected Lauryn Laslie as its Student of the Month for October.

Laslie is involved in several campus organizations and serves as the School of Education student government senator.

She has also served as an executive board member for many organizations, including the Council for Exceptional Children and the Student Athletic Advisory Council.

When she's not playing for the women's soccer team, she helps coach a young soccer club team in Aiken.

Although she is native to Woodbridge, Virginia, she's found a home at UofSC Aiken.

"As soon as I walked on campus before I had decided where to go for school, I was welcomed with open arms by current students as well as the faculty and staff. UofSC Aiken just felt like home," the Woodbridge Senior High Schooler said.

Laslie is a special education major. She plans to attend graduate school and with the hopes of becoming a county-wide supervisor of curriculum and services for special-needs education.
