Aiken, SC (05/02/2019) — The University of South Carolina Aiken's student newspaper, Pacer Times, earned five awards from the South Carolina Press Association.
Amber Perry, a Class of '18 communication major, won first place in the feature story category for her article on the university's public advocacy class taught by Dr. Jason Munsell. She also took third place in the arts and entertainment category for an article she wrote on the Augusta live music scene.
News Editor Angelika Davis won third place in the news story category for her article about security cameras on campus. She is a senior education major and will graduate May 8.
Pacer Times Editor-in-Chief Cecilia Maddox took home second place in the news writing category for her article on the status of parking on campus. She also earned second place in the column writing category for her opinions on modern sexism. She is a senior fine arts major with a concentration in classical voice and a minor in communication.
