Student President Earns Rotary Honor
Aiken, SC (03/09/2019) — The University of South Carolina Aiken Student Government Association president was named Student of the Month for February 2019 by the Sunrise Rotary Club.
Brandon Eberl, an industrial process engineering major, will graduate in May. From there, he plans to keep learning until he ultimately earns a doctorate in biomedical engineering. This will come in handy when he establishes his own biomedical 3D printing corporation.
The former homeschooler has spent several semesters interning with other scientists already working in the field. He's enjoyed engineering internships with both the Savannah River National Laboratory and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
"USC Aiken is amazing and has afforded me many opportunities that I would not have gotten at a large university," Eberl says.
Although he's currently serving as the student body president at USC Aiken, he's been active on campus throughout his collegiate career. In addition to SGA, he's been part of the university's Baptist Collegiate Ministries and Pacer Fanatics. He also volunteered as the manager and videographer for the USC Aiken Women's Basketball Team.
To date, he's received several additional honors, including: recipient of a LIFE Scholarship, University of South Carolina Magellan Research Scholar, SGA Senator of the Year award recipient, Dean's List, and Savannah River Site WORC Scholarship recipient. Eberl is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society.
"I chose USCA because of the low student-to-faculty ratio and close proximity to home," Eberl says.
"I have developed strong relationships with my professors and have made lifelong friendships."
When not on campus, he enjoys graphic design, sports marketing, watching college football or basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
