Sunrise Rotary Names Warrenville Native as Student of the Month
Aiken, SC (01/26/2018) — Jessica Gomez, a senior sociology major at the University of South Carolina Aiken, has been named Sunrise Rotary's USC Aiken Student of the Month for January.
"Jessica has excelled both in and out of the classroom while at USC Aiken," said Ahmed Samaha, assistant vice chancellor of student life.
Gomez has made the dean's list for several semesters and has served as a member of the Student Government Association. She is a leader in Phi Mu Fraternity; introduces new students to campus as a Pacesetter; and helps coordinate leadership programs on campus.
Gomez said USC Aiken is a perfect fit for her.
"I chose USC Aiken because I love the family atmosphere and all of the opportunities for leadership afforded to me through the university."
Currently, she is interning with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Last summer, Gomez interned with the Aiken County Solicitor's Office.
After graduation, Gomez may go to graduate school. Ultimately, though, she says she hopes to pursue a career in federal law enforcement.
When not on campus Gomez says she enjoys being with family.
"I love spending time with my family and serving in the children's department at my home church, New Life Church."
