USC Aiken Dean of School of Ed Elected Officer of National Association
Aiken, SC (07/06/2018) — The Association of Teacher Educators elected Dr. Judy Beck, dean of the University of South Carolina Aiken's School of Education, as the second vice president - until 2020 when she will take office as president of the national organization.
She has served on the ATE Board of Directors and was an ATE Delegate Assembly representative for South Carolina. She also served on the organization's bylaws revision and legislative committees and national conference planning committees for several years. Beck is the past-president of the South Carolina and Southeast Regional ATE and currently serves as the executive director for SCATE.
She recently ushered in a new online master's program at USC Aiken in educator leadership, which begins this Fall. This program, prepares educators throughout South Carolina to take on a variety of leadership roles in their buildings or districts. The online program helps develop administrative skills such as management, supervision and decision-making but also will focus on preparing school leaders to be instructional leaders, improve instruction and, in turn, student learning.
USC Aiken's new master's degree program is in keeping with ATE's mission, which is to promote teacher education.
