USC Aiken Excellence in Teaching Award Winner Announced

Aiken, SC (05/28/2020) — Dr. Philip Mason of the University of South Carolina Aiken Sociology Department has earned the annual Excellence in Teaching Award.

His goal as an educator is to foster a lifelong curiosity about the world in which students live and to help them develop the skills to pursue the answers to their questions.

"Dr. Mason has a passion for what he teaches. He is organized with everything throughout his classes," said one student.

"He wants his students to learn and he demonstrates that."

Other Pacers agreed.

"His teaching abilities paired with his ability to empathize with students makes him overwhelming qualified for this award," said another student.
