USC Aiken Honors Retiring Art Professor

Aiken, SC (05/04/2018) — For Arbor Day, the University of South Carolina Aiken held a tree-planting ceremony to recognize one of its longstanding art professors.

Al Beyer retires at the end of the semester after almost four decades on the USC Aiken campus.

He humbly acknowledged peers, students and other friends of the university for their hard work and support.

Beyer said he accepted the gift of the Natchez Crepe Myrtle tree planted in his honor "only as the representative of a larger group."

When he retires, Beyer will celebrate 38 years of teaching art classes at USC Aiken.
