USC Aiken Riders Earn High-Point Team Day 2 of Columbia's Fall Show

Aiken, SC (11/02/2017) — The University of South Carolina Aiken's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Hunt Seat Team earned top honors during a sister school's event, which featured teams from all over the region.

The Pacer equestrians participated in USC Columbia's annual two-day fall show at Three Fox Farm and came home as the high-point team on the second day. USC Aiken earned 34 points, beating out both Clemson and Carolina who only scored 31 points apiece day two. Other competitors included Georgia Southern, College of Charleston, and Furman, among others.

The young team had only eight of its 15 competitors participating. Other schools had more riders; Columbia and Clemson average approximately 40 members, according to Michelle Hodge, staff advisor for USC Aiken's IHSA team.

"The girls are great riders, and we are always 'in the ribbons,' but it usually takes having a few riders in each class to make high-point team," Hodge said.

USC Aiken's riders fared well in individual competitions as well.
